The Sand Dancer Series

A Young Adult Fantasy Series

The Sand Dancer Series is a Young Adult fantasy adventure of fire magic, sword dancing, secrets, and revenge!

Only monsters summon fire by magic. It’s a sin against the sun god and a crime against the king. The punishment is death.

But when sixteen-year-old Mina discovers fire magic runs in her family’s blood, it’s just the beginning of the secrets her father has been keeping from her.

Join Mina on an adventure that will span kingdoms as she fights to protect the Fire Walkers from forces that would see them killed or enslaved, and discover far deadlier enemies waiting in the shadows.

Book 3 in Development!

The Story So Far...

The monsters of father’s tales burn with fire in their blood. They stole their gifts from the gods, setting ablaze homes and melting the bones of children. A devastating power feared across the kingdom and outlawed by royal decree. When sixteen-year-old Tamina “Mina” chooses to prove herself as a warrior by targeting a monster from the tales, her attempts to expose their fire abilities triggers her own latent power.
Terrified of being branded as a Fire Walker, Mina burns down her home and flees, but is caught by a visiting nobleman. Mina’s father, desperate to save her, summons his own hidden flame. His distraction allows her to escape, but he is killed for the crime of possessing the magic of his own tales.
To hide from those who would name her a monster, Mina disguises herself as a boy and follows a fennec fox to safety in the desert. She is discovered by the King’s champion, who adopts her into his noble household.
Mina enters a whole new world with just one goal; to find her father’s killer and claim her blood debt.

Praise for Sand Dancer

I love the world Skies has created in her stunning debut novel; like her characters, the cities and other locations of her world were vibrant, alive and incredibly immersive, and leapt out of my kindle at me as I read.
The book gets better the more you read it and I love the subplots that combined all together in the end. Overall, one of the best reads so far for me this year.
