Trudie Skies is a non-binary British author based in North East England, though they have been living inside fantasy worlds ever since they discovered books, and they refuse to return to reality. Within Trudie’s daydreams you’ll find SPFBO and BBNYA finalist The Thirteenth Hour, a gaslamp fantasy described as obnoxiously British and best read with a cup of tea.
When not conjuring new worlds, Trudie spends their free time exploring the realms of indie books and video games, staring at clouds, and chasing after their fluffy companions.
Statement on AI
Trudie is opposed to the usage of generative AI in the creative arts and believes its use to be fundamentally anti-human and damaging for the environment. They are fully committed to supporting human-made work. No part of AI is used within Trudie’s creative process and none of Trudie’s works are written with or edited by the assistance of generative AI. Trudie ensures they work with beta readers and editors who are also anti-AI. Trudie only works with artists (including cover artists, character artists) who do not use AI or AI stock photo and art assets. When using stock art for promotional materials, Trudie checks these have not been created with generative AI where possible. Should an art asset be discovered to be made with AI, Trudie will replace them with human art. Trudie refuses to make AI audiobook versions of their books. They also refuse to promote so-called authors who ‘write’ with AI.
